The Orchestra Program offers a variety of orchestras, each focused on development of different levels of skill. All orchestras require audition and/or Director’s approval. Participation in UIL Concert & Sight-reading and Solo & Ensemble contests is required. Students will be required to spend time outside the normal school day and on weekends to fulfill the requirements for each orchestra.

Entry Level Orchestras

Entry Level Orchestras include String Orchestra (for 9th graders only) and Concert Orchestra (for 10th-12th graders only). These orchestras concentrate on building fundamentals to strengthen playing ability and may be combined with Philharmonic and/or Symphony Orchestras for special performances.

Second-Level Orchestra

The Second-Level Orchestra consists of the Philharmonic Orchestra (for 10th-12th graders only). This orchestra is for experienced players who have mastered many of the fundamental musical skills and may be combined with String and/or Symphony Orchestra for special performances.

Advanced-Level Orchestra

The Symphony Orchestra is our top ensemble, for all grade levels through audition. Meeting high performance standards, this select group appears in concerts throughout the school year. The symphony orchestra experience acquaints the student with standard symphonic repertoire, string orchestra selections, and light concert materials. Full orchestra will meet one night a week as necessary. Concurrent membership in Band is required of all wind, brass, and percussion players.
