Temple senior Davion Curtis got what he wanted with a successful high school send-off on the college campus of his soon-to-be-home.
Teammate Quintin Smith got what he came looking for, as well, which was a piece of hardware of any color.
And when the Wildcats’ 4×400-meter relay foursome ran to a second-place finish late Friday night, it put a cap on Temple’s most successful trip to the UIL State Track and Field Championships in quite some time.
The Wildcats finished with a total of 34 points in the Class 5A boys standings — good enough for fourth place in the team rankings behind champion Fort Bend Marshall (52), Lancaster (36) and Waxahachie (36) — and left Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus with medals in three events.
